Additionally, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will be having an advantage of getting the same engine, power transmission, suspension, and brake system as the standard-production SLS AMG. The vehicle also flaunts a new carbon fiber hood with front-mounted camera, an all-LED roof light bar, and a rear number plate with an integrated camera. Along with that, it features AMG speed shift DCT 7-speed sports transmission with double-clutch technology and AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system which is aimed to minimize the brake distances.

SLS AMG will feature 6.3-liter AMG V8 engine generating 571-hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. However, the new Safety Car will remain mechanically unchanged from the street ready version with the only exception of slightly augmented tailpipe. SLS AMG Gullwing will replace SL 63 AMG (used in F1 2008 and 2009) as an official F1 safety car for 2010 season.  F1 this time will mark the debut of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG which is a spectacular and powerful Official F1 Safety Car of all time.
